This listing is for a 2" or 4" pot of red sempervivum. We guarantee the safe arrival of the plant, or we will refund your money or send you a replacement plant. Sempervivum is commonly used in living wreaths, spilling out of various containers such as clay pots, old tea kettles, and even old retired work boots. They are incredibly easy to grow in hot, sunny spots and spread out nicely to fill in spaces. The nickname "Hens and Chicks" refers to the fact that there is always a mother plant (hen) that produces smaller plants (chicks).
Once established, sempervivum plants are very drought tolerant and require minimal care. They prefer sandy or gravelly soils in full sun and may not do well in clay soils unless they are amended. It is important to ensure good winter drainage for these plants. Adding gravel mulch can be beneficial for their growth.
New rosettes will form around the parent plant, and these offsets can be removed once they have rooted and transplanted to a new location.
