Sempervivum Red Lion Red Rubin (2 inch)

Sempervivum plants are commonly used in living wreaths, spilling out of various containers such as clay pots, old tea kettles, and even retired work boots. They are extremely easy to grow in hot, sunny spots, spreading out to fill in nicely. The name "Hens and Chicks" refers to the fact that there is always a mother plant (hen) that produces baby plants (chicks).
Once established, sempervivum plants are very drought tolerant and require no special care. They prefer sandy or gravelly soils in full sun and may benefit from gravel mulch. It is important to ensure good winter drainage, and clay soils may need to be avoided or amended.
Offset rosettes will be formed around the parent plant, and these can be removed once rooted and transplanted to another location.
